What would you have done?

Sometimes life situations present themselves and I for one don’t know how to handle them. So I was wondering what you would have done had this been you.
I was at the grocery store looking at all the fattening, delicious, yummy desserts trying to pick out the right one for Jeff’s birthday. I could not decide if I should do a traditional cake or something a bit fancier like the turtle cheesecake, or peanut butter cup cake, or Oreo cake. I was deciding what cake to purchase when the lady behind the counter began sneezing. One sneeze after another until she sneezed into her hands FIVE times. I waited to see if she was going to go WASH her hands or put on clean gloves or sanitize herself in any way. She chose not to. I was sick to my stomach at the thought of her touching anything that I would be putting into my mouth and my family as well. So I politely told her I changed my mind. I walked over to the premade cakes and watched as the next person walked up to the bakery and made a purchase. I know that this lady did not wash her hands before helping this next customer. I don’t want to be the germ police, but isn’t this common sense???

So should I have asked her to wash her hands and then put on gloves? Would you have walked away too? What would you have done?

Well I am well known for not speaking my mind when I should. I think you should have kindly asked her to wash her hands but I would never have had the guts to do it myself. So I would have did exactly what you did.

I love your new banner honoring you twins. It's really cute and a great way to honor and remember them!

Like you, I would have walked away, but then kicked myself for not saying anything. It is common sense......some people just don't have any or haven't learned how important that is. My dad for example wouldn't blink an eye at that. He also cross contaminates meet.

Your blog looks so nice, Laurie. I love the plaque to honor your girls.....everything looks so professional!

Oh dear. I'm with Laura, I'm all outspoken after the fact and in private, but a complete wimp otherwise. No way I would have bought anything there...who knows?

Sorry, yucky.

I did the same thing you did already Laurie.

I saw 2 boys licking fruit in the produce section and the Mom just let them! Needless to say, I now wash my fruit TWICE or more. OY.

Oh, that's just so gross! I probably would have done exactly what you did as well. Some people just don't get it!

Sadly I wouldn't have spoken up as well - But I have been known to make a complaint to our local council that police food places here.

Love Sydney and Samantha's banner - just beautiful!

Saw your site from wordful wednesday. This post caught my eye. I am bold and unashamed. I would have walked away from her but I would definitely reported this to the manager. I find that so many service related retail places are apathetic about keeping us safe from harm. The next birthday cake could have been a child's..Yikes! Enjoy your site. I will visit again when I can read your other posts.

eeewww! I would have done what you did and then probably whispered to the next person buying what had happened! Did you have any of that germ-ex in your purse? Wonder what the lady would have done if you had of whipped some out and said, "Need some?!"

I read your touching story on angie's blog last night. I am new to this whole blogging thing and I just want you to know that you have been on my mind all day. I cannot imagine what you and your husband went through, but I pray that God will give you a peace to get through each day until you are all reunited again.

Blessings!
